Nestled in the heart of Palermo on Via Butera, Hobento Porta Felice offers a fresh and authentic taste of Korean cuisine, a true culinary gem for those seeking a delightful departure from the city's well-trodden Italian fare. This welcoming eatery invites diners to experience the vibrant flavors and textures that Korean cooking is celebrated for, all while enjoying a cozy and inviting atmosphere where the warmth of the staff perfectly complements each meal.
The menu is a thoughtfully curated journey into Korean delights, featuring standout dishes that leave a lasting impression. The Japchae, a plate of stir-fried sweet potato noodles with fresh vegetables, is masterfully garnished with quenelles of egg infused with mirin and roasted red sesame oil, delivering a dish that is both gluten-free and available in a vegan version—a culinary gesture that embraces inclusivity without compromising flavor.
For those craving something crispy and boldly seasoned, the Dakgangjeong is an irresistible choice. This Korean-style fried chicken is perfectly caramelized with a delicate balance of ginger, chili, and honey, paired beautifully with nigiri-style rice, creating a harmony of sweet, spicy, and savory notes that dance on the palate. The Bibimbap served in a traditional stone bowl offers a comforting medley of crunchy rice and vibrant vegetables, bursting with freshness and authenticity—a true signature of Korean home cooking.
Patrons consistently rave about the genuine flavors and care infused in every dish, with particular praise for the house-made kimchi, which strikes a perfect balance of spice and tang. Several diners, including those who have lived in Asia or visited Korea, applaud the menu’s authenticity and the chef’s evident passion for Korean cuisine. The attentive and friendly service elevates the dining experience, making guests feel truly welcomed, whether they are seasoned Korean food lovers or first-time explorers.
One cannot help but appreciate the little thoughtful touches, like the provision of mosquito repellent during Palermo's warm days, showcasing the staff’s attentive hospitality. While the intimate space exudes warmth, some guests suggest a bit more cooling on hotter days—but this minor detail fades away beneath the undeniable joy of savoring each mouthful.
For those weary of classic pizza and pasta, Hobento Porta Felice is a refreshing culinary oasis that promises a flavorful adventure – with every bite echoing the essence of Korean tradition and innovation. A visit here is more than a meal; it is an invitation to explore a richly textured cuisine that delights the senses and leaves a memorable imprint on your palate.
Whether you’re craving comforting bibimbap, crave the satisfying crunch of dakgangjeong, or want to indulge in expertly prepared vegan and gluten-free options, Hobento Porta Felice stands out as Palermo’s premier destination for authentic Korean dining with a heartfelt touch.

It was a very unexpected but lovely experience. Since we had quit a lot of Pizza and Pasta on our trip, we decided to try Hobento Porta Felice and we didn't regret it! The atmosphere was cozy, the staff extremely friendly and the food delicious! I actually have nothing to criticize and can only recommend. Thank you very much.

Got bored of pizza and pasta so decided to try this place for some Korean. Did not disappoint at all! The food was very good and authentic tasting as one who has had dined in Korea. The house Kimchi was great. I ordered the bibimbap which tasted very flavorful. My only complaint id that there was hardly any cooling on a 90F day in Palermo… but no big deal when the food was so good.

I am a lover of Korean food and I was pleasantly surprised to find a Korean restaurant while visiting Palermo. Hobento exceeded my expectations. The tteokbokki in particular was amazing (beware if you don't like spicy food though!). The owners were also very kind and considerate. I especially appreciated that they put out some mosquito repellent! Overall a very lovely experience.

We lived in Asia for 12 years and Korean food is our absolute favourite. We’ve been travelling in Europe for 6 months now and been craving Korean food but really struggled to find anywhere. We struggled to find much information online about the menu to see if they did our much loved Samgyupsal and Kimchijiggae and were thrilled when they got back to us and said they did. We booked a table straight away for the next evening (note it’s only open a few days a week). The restaurant is very small so it’s a must to book, plenty of people were being turned away. We were very nervous when we realised the chef was Italian. We’ve probably been to over 50 different Korean restaurants and never been to one that wasn’t owned by Koreans or had a none Korean chef. We needn’t have worried as the food was absolutely delicious. Yes the waiting times are long, but it was so worth it and we were advised in advance it would take about 40 minutes. The food is very authentic and better than a lot of Korean restaurants we’ve been to. You can definitely tell that the chef has lived and trained over there! The only that would have improved it for us (personal taste) would be to have some garlic along with some salt and sesame oil for the samgyupsal but even without it the food was delicious! It’s a bit on the pricy side (€80 for 2 x Samgyupsal, 1 x kimchijiggae, 2 asahi and a bottle of Soju) but you literally can’t get this food anywhere else so of course you will pay a premium and it was well worth it. It’s a shame we found this place at the end of our months stay in Palermo as we would definitely have come back. If you are craving Korean food then you won’t be disappointed!

It was a great place for Korean food, especially in an area where you don't see many Asian visitors. The chamchi kimchi jjigae was unfamiliar to me at first, but once I started eating, I couldn't stop. It was surprisingly addictive. Awesome experience!
